Love couldn’t wait for one starry-eyed couple who rushed to the altar to tie the knot before lockdown.
Greater Brisbane was given a three-day stay-at-home order by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk after a cleaner at a quarantine hotel contracted the new UK ‘mutant strain’ of the coronavirus.
The restrictions which went into effect at 6pm on Friday would have meant Michelle and Zac Woods could only have 10 people at their wedding scheduled for Saturday – and they would all have to wear masks.
So they decided to bring forward their nuptials and get married that during the day on Friday.
When Michelle first heard about the new lockdown order she thought it was a cruel joke.
The couple were forced to call off their trip to the altar in April after Australia was sent into a national shutdown due to pandemic.
As history repeated itself, Michelle broke down and cried fearing it would be months if not years before she’d become a bride.
‘I didn’t want to wait again. We already got cancelled once,’ Zac told 7News.
He called on family and friends to turn Michelle’s family home in Clayfield into a wedding venue just 30 minutes after the Premier made the announcement.

‘The family were amazing. Everyone was just willing to give a hand,’ Michelle said.
In a frantic rush the couple made it just in time and officially tied the knot just a few hours before the River City was plunged into lockdown.
‘I’m glad we did it. This is us. This is how we should have done it, in my childhood home. We’re married. That’s all we wanted to be,’ Michelle said.
