In Mexico, 340,415 were registered land traffic accidents during 2021, 13% more than the previous year, according to figures from the Inegi (National Institute of Statistic and Geography).
In these accidents, 4,401 fatalities and 82,466 injuries were recorded.
This increase in accidents between vehicles can be explained due to the increase in the number of cars in circulation after the confinements by the Covid-19.
A large part of these accidents were reported in northern states of the country. Single New Lion concentrated 21% of these incidents, followed by Chihuahua y Nayarit with 9 and 0.5% respectively.
