CRDC announces expansion to Mexico with a model to help the sustainability of construction

For the firm CRDC, sustainability is one of the great challenges of Construction Industryso it announced its arrival in Mexico through an additive to concrete y asphaltmade with the plastic waste generated by the sector.

According to the firm, which inaugurated its new plant in York, Pennsylvania, with this additive a circular value is generated for the industry, since it allows to give a useful life to the plastic waste that is used in the building and so, not that they do not end up as filler material to the detriment of seas and oceans.

“At CRDC we found a scalable solution to use different types of plastics and transform them into RESIN8™, an additive for concrete and asphalt, which allows us to process any type of resin, generating value by improving properties,” said María Laura Rojas, head of CRDC Mexico operations.

Last June, the firm inaugurated its first commercial-scale plant for this product in Costa Rica. According to the company, it is the first of its kind worldwide and will process up to 90 tons of so-called tragic plastics per day; For its new space in the United States, it is expected to process 1 ton per hour.

Reuse plastic, the end

For the company, the reuse of plastic is vital to move towards the sustainabilitysince it is estimated that this element represents 85% of the waste that is in the oceans and it is calculated that by 2040, the volume of this waste will triple.

In this context, the firm announced that its arrival in Mexico is accompanied by an educational program called Bags that Build, where schools, governments and companies work together to recycle plastic materials and educate the population about it.

Likewise, the firm collaborates with the Habitat for Humanity organization in Mexico, in the Sustainable, Affordable and Adequate Housing program, where the aim is to create spaces for awareness and reflection with the communities to reduce the environmental impact.

CRDC is expected to open its third plant with processing capacity of 1 tonne per hour of tragic plastics in Cape Town, South Africa next year.
