A large number of medium-sized crocodiles escaped from a farm in South Africa on Wednesday.
“Traps have been set up in the river,” said James Brent Stian, a local government spokesman in the Western Cape. “Environmental protection, police and landowners in the area are patrolling at night.”
“We have confirmed that a number of small crocodiles escaped from a commercial breeding farm in Bonyval,” Stian added. “Twenty crocodiles have been recovered, and an unknown number are still at large, most likely they fled to the river.”
