Not even the visit of one of the sensations from the start of the season to the Chase Center has been able to hinder the imperial walk of the Warriors. Golden State added its 11th victory this morning, the seventh in a row, by defeating Chicago 119-93, a score that reflects the enormous difference between the two teams in the second half, a difference marked especially by Stephen Curry.
In another masterful performance, the point guard shattered the Bulls’ hopes with 40 points in another display of outside shooting and scoring resources. Curry signed a 62.5% accuracy in his shots, including a 9/17 in triples, thanks to his ability to gain space from his defenders and arm his arm with an enviable speed that made the sticky defense of men like Caruso sterile or Lonzo, who managed to generate 6 losses but did not slow down. With his success and his ability to energize the team’s offense, Steph led the Warriors in flying colors, who achieved a +31 partial in their minutes on the court.
Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole, who finished with 15 and 14 points respectively, served as squires, while Draymond Green starred in a complete new performance. With 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, the power forward was everywhere on the court, and was once again essential for the good performance of Kerr’s men despite his discreet statistics.
The Bulls started the game very involved and with a notable desire to hit the table, as they boasted an offensive success and a spark in defense in the first minutes that caught the Warriors by surprise. The Illinois side managed to dominate the first quarter and stay close to the locals in the second, but after the break the San Francisco team recovered the tradition of their most dominant years and broke the game to turn the last period into a mere formality. Golden State took the third quarter 35-17, a period in which Curry had 15 of his points.
Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, with 23 and 18 points, tried to save the ballot for Chicago, but were unable to keep up once Steph and company pressed and fell without putting up much resistance. The Bulls could not count on Nikola Vucevic, absent due to sanitary protocol, and the rest of the team members failed to fill the gap left by the Montenegrin, which contributed to them suffering a defeat that has made them fall to the third position of the Eastern Conference.
