Damian Lillard’s absence may be coming to an end. As reported by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Portland guard last week underwent a cortisone injection procedure in the abdomen to relieve pain, a treatment that could help him return to action this Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Seeing him again on the floor will depend on how he is doing in the next few days. The aforementioned journalist points out that the point guard will be evaluated on Friday and it will be then when it is decided if he is fit to play.
Regarding the procedure chosen, this responds to the fact that Lillard had begun to feel more pain recently. If he finally returns against the Wolves, he will have met almost in detail with the schedule provided by the organization on December 1, when they said that the absence would be extended to 10 days.
While waiting for Lillard to return to the slopes, the Oregonians have recently learned that they will not be able to count on CJ McCollum indefinitely, since he has suffered a pneumothorax in his right lung that will force him to do several tests before knowing exactly how long will he be away.
The situation of the Blazers can be defined at the moment as delicate, since they have lost six of the last seven games played and are also awaiting the recoveries of Anfernee Simmons and Nassir Little.
