Conor McGregor blew his chance for a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov by chasing a fight against Dustin Poirier and a return to the ring against Manny Pacquiao, claims Dana White.
Lightweight champion Khabib is preparing to face Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on October 24, while McGregor wants to fight Poirier before the end of the year, although UFC want it to take place on January 23.
McGregor once again hung up his gloves in June for the third time in four years, but last week claimed that he has accepted UFC‘s offer for a rematch against Poirier.

McGregor is eyeing a return to the Octagon despite announcing his retirement in the summer
And he confirmed that he will use the bout as preparations for his planned lucrative boxing rematch with Manny Pacquiao next year.
McGregor also posted a series of screenshots of private conversations with UFC supremo Dana White involving a superfight against Diego Sanchez onto his Twitter account last month.
These actions supposedly angered Khabib, whose manager Ali Abdelaziz last month declared the rematch ‘dead’.
White told Barstool Sports: ‘(Khabib) was gonna do it until Conor did all this s**t,’
‘That’s what I was saying. I felt like I was in a good place and I was gonna get that done. So we were gonna do the Ultimate Fighter on ESPN and f*****g do the rematch. But Conor blew that.

‘Khabib said, ‘F—k him. That was it.’
White’s comments come after the Russian’s coach claimed the two could fight at the start of next year in a huge rematch if ‘the stars align’.
Javier Mendez told SunSport: ‘Conor did say it has to be before the end of this year.

‘Think about this – Khabib will not fight past the end of April next year (due to Ramadan).
‘So if the stars align properly, based off what Conor is saying, then he could want to put himself in that picture for next year.
‘He has to beat Dustin and then obviously that makes sense. We have to be victorious and then we’ll see what Dana offers us.’
