Not two days in a row go by without the Pelicans news being punctuated by a new defeat with an extra dose of drama. To recover one of the most surprising ones, you have to go back to October 29, the night that New Orleans was defeated by the Kings at home. There David Griffin met Alvin Gentry, former Pelicans head coach and current California associate manager. The general manager did not hesitate then to attribute certain pending accounts to him, initiating a discussion that ended with both about to come to blows if they are not separated.
The information has been retrieved by Jake Fischer for Bleacher Report, and points out that the reason for the discussion was an article from NOLA.com that exposed Griffin’s misdeeds during his tenure. The manager reproached Gentry for having collaborated in the preparation of the article, which led to a string of continuous reproaches. According to Fischer, his sources in the Pelicans assure that the mishap has had no effect on Griffin’s status within the franchise. In other words, this dispute will not cost you your job. What he does not deny is that what ends up taking him away from New Orleans is the 1-11 that is in the team’s win-loss record.
