Delivery men fight for employment

Digital platform workers met with the president of the Labor and Social Welfare Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Manuel de Jesús Baldenebro Arredondo, to deliver a manifesto through which they request that their employment relationship with companies in the industry be recognized.

As part of the groups there are personnel from platforms such as Yakusa; the Union of Workers and Technological Platforms of Yucatan (UNTRAPTEY); Wham Cast; Union of Workers of Digital Platforms, Passengers and Food of Mexico (SUTRAM); National Union of Workers by Application (UNTA); Universal Emergency Group (GUE); Drivers for Juárez and CADEM. In the manifest, it is specified that the workers are considered as such and the labor categories will be defined based on the hours of connection time. So they can be temporary, half salary and full salary.

In an interview at the end of the meeting, Clara López, an application worker from Yucatán, said that the meeting was positive “we feel support from President Baldenebro. We only come to ask for what is fair, we ask that our rights as workers be made valid; we all have the right to have, at least, what Social Security is”.

In turn, Verónica Durán from Guadalajara, said that “we hope to have a positive response; A very important point is labor flexibility, it is something that colleagues must understand, that labor flexibility is not going to change their way of working, they will be able to connect at the time they want, they will be able to stop working at the time let them decide”.

The president of the Labor Commission, Manuel de Jesús Baldenebro, promised to support the workers and recommended unity.
