DeMarcus Cousins’ stint in Milwaukee has come to an end. So the least assures Adrian Wojnarowski, a journalist from ESPN, which states that the current champions will not guarantee the center’s contract before the deadline set for this Friday, January 7, so that he will once again be a free agent.
Cousins joined the Wisconsin franchise at the end of last November, and since then his performance seemed to have earned him a place in the roster and the affection of the fans. In the 17 games he has played, he has averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds, and has managed to be an effective and much-needed substitute center in the team in the absence of Brook Lopez. However, John Horst has assured that he wants to keep a hole in the roster in the face of possible movements before the market close on February 10, which has led to this decision.
“We would not have been able to overcome this difficult stretch of the season if it weren’t for DeMarcus,” he said in general manager. “In the end, we are making a strategic decision, but there is nothing that prevents us from collaborating with him again in the future. His time here has been very positive for the team, and I hope he can think the same of us.
We will see if Horst already has an imminent incorporation or transfer, otherwise it would be a movement of certain risk given the uncertainty of when Brook Lopez will be available again. Cousins, for his part, is sure to receive the interest of various teams, as Wojnarowski says that overall he has left a good feeling and that he will be coveted as a free agent.
