In solidarity with Gaza, which has been facing a devastating Israeli war with American military support since October 7, 2023, the Houthis announce that they are targeting Israeli or related cargo ships with missiles and drones, in addition to attacks with missiles and drones on the occupied Palestinian territories.
Since the beginning of this year, a coalition led by Washington has launched American and British raids on Yemeni sites, to which the Houthis have responded from time to time, stressing that they will not stop their naval attacks unless the Israeli war on Gaza stops.
Today, the Houthi group announced that it had targeted the Nevatim air base in southern Israel with what it said was a hypersonic ballistic missile, in addition to shooting down an American MQ9 drone in Al-Jawf Governorate in northern Yemen.
This was stated by the Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, in a statement he read in front of a solidarity demonstration with Palestine and Lebanon in the capital, Sana’a, stressing that their forces will continue to “support the Palestinian and Lebanese people by continuing to impose the naval blockade on the Israeli enemy.”
Earlier today, the Israeli army said – in a statement regarding the sound of sirens in the Dead Sea region and north of Eilat – that this was due to “the interception of a missile launched from Yemen.”
