The US State Department reported this Thursday that it issued sanctions to Horacio Cartes, former president of Paraguay, and the current Paraguayan vice president, Hugo Velázquez, for alleged acts of corruption. After these accusations, Vice President Velásquez said in an interview with ABC Cardinal radio that he is not going to resign unless they show him something “that makes him feel ashamed.” Cartes’ lawyers also denied the accusations and one of the former president’s defenders affirmed that, with the sanctions, the rights of his client have been violated. Juan Carlos López has the details in this video.
