Former NBA player Deron Williams, retired from basketball since 2017, has recently moved into the world of boxing, as did the often Nate Robinson. The former star point guard of the Utah Jazz will fight on December 18 in Tampa against former NFL star Frank Gore, reported ESPN.
Both will debut on the ring in the 98 kilogram weight category, and it will be a four-round fight, confirmed the aforementioned media.
Gore has been training as a boxer for years, and in fact this summer he has turned down several offers to return to the NFL, thus focusing on his new sport.
For his part, Williams is a great fan of combat sports and regularly practices mixed martial arts. In addition, he is a co-owner of the famous Dallas gym, Fortis MMA, where he is training with coach Sayif Saud.
Selected by the Jazz in the 3rd pick of the 2005 Draft, in thirteen years of NBA career he has averaged 16.3 points, 8.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1 steal in 845 official games (771 as a starter) .
He has been an All-Star three times; twice included in the 2nd Best Quintet in the NBA, Rookie of the Year 2006; and with Team USA he has achieved two gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
