DeSantis consolidates leadership against Trump

Miami. Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis was one of the incumbents who easily won re-election yesterday in the US midterm elections.

Rising star of the hard right, DeSantis, 44, unsurprisingly prevailed in this conservative state over former Governor Charlie Crist, a former Republican who had changed parties, according to ABC and CNN.

The unofficial results give DeSantis almost 20 points more than Crist, a margin of more than 1.4 million votes.

“Thanks to the overwhelming support of the people of Florida, we not only won the election, but we have rewritten the political map,” DeSantis said in Tampa last night to applause from his supporters.

The governor called his victory “crushing” and criticized the agenda of liberal politicians.

“We have embraced freedom. We have kept the law in order, we have protected the rights of parents. We have respected our taxpayers and rejected the ideology of the woke,” as leftist militants are known, DeSantis said.

“We fight woke in the legislature, we fight woke in schools, we fight woke in corporations. We will never, ever give in to the woke mob. Florida is where woke goes to die.”

Ron DeSantis recently sparked controversy by claiming to send planes with immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, an island in the northeastern United States for wealthy people.

Rival de Trump

Although DeSantis has not declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, he is clearly considering it and refusing to commit to serving his second full term as governor.

Trump is aware of the potential of this would-be rival, telling Fox News on the eve of the vote that if DeSantis shows up “he could get really hurt. I really think he could get really hurt.”

“I think I would be making a mistake, I think the base wouldn’t like it, I don’t think it’s good for the party,” Trump said.
