Grave fears are held for a boy lost on a cold night in an isolated and rugged national park after extensive search efforts failed to find him.

Logan Good, 13, went missing when he walked ahead of a group including his mother at Alligator Gorge, Mount Remarkable in the Southern Flinders Ranges about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

A search including a Police helicopter , State Emergency Service and the Country Fire Service continued until around 2am on Thursday without finding him.

The search continued in the morning, including all emergency services involved overnight, and was expected to be stepped up to include drones and police dogs.

A statement by SA Police said Good ‘wandered off from the Alligator Gorge carpark and did not return’.

Logan’s mother, Hayley told AdelaideNow she lost sight of her son after he walked ahead of their group: ‘We called for help after we lost contact with him.’

‘It’s been a very long and difficult night for the whole family but we have faith the police and emergency services will find Logan safe and sound.’

SA Police spokeswoman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the boy was still missing today and was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and boots when lost, and that it was a cold night.

He is 170cm tall, of medium build, with short dark hair, a pale complexion and blue eyes. He is also believed to live with ADHD.

Alligator Gorge sits between Melrose and Wilmington in the southern Flinders Ranges and is known for rich wildlife including snakes. It is about 230km north of Adelaide.
