Destiny 2’s next major raid, The Desert Perpetual, will arrive with the upcoming expansion, The Edge of Fate. The raid is set to launch on July 19, 2025, with its challenging Contest Mode active for the first 48 hours. The global release is scheduled for 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM GMT.
Players can earn several exclusive in-game emblems by participating in and viewing the raid. Completing The Desert Perpetual on any difficulty will award the “Third Unknown” emblem. Fireteams that successfully clear all raid encounters within the 48-hour Contest Mode window will receive the “Timeline’s Blade” emblem.
Additional rewards will be available via Twitch Drops. The “Power Hues Emblem” can be earned by watching any Destiny 2 stream on July 19 between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM PT. Furthermore, the “Golden Relief” emblem is obtainable by gifting a Twitch subscription in the Destiny 2 category anytime from 6:00 PM PT on July 19 until 10:00 AM PT on July 29.
To maintain a competitive balance during the raid race, developer Bungie has announced that several items will be temporarily disabled during Contest Mode. While players can still equip these items, their special perks and effects will be inactive within the raid.
The disabled items are as follows:
- Weapons: Outbreak Perfected, Third Iteration, Choir of One, and Icebreaker.
- Armor: The set bonus perks on the Collective Psyche armor set and the Distribution armor mod.
