The Pistons gave themselves a joy last night. In a complicated (but expected) season due to the accumulation of defeats, Dwane Casey’s boys appeared on the champion’s court and defeated some Bucks that had their trio of stars: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. It was a huge win, one that the Michigan head coach called an important step forward.
“Growing up in this league is not an easy thing, but this is undoubtedly an excellent step for us,” says Casey, very satisfied with the match played by his boys.
Detroit did a great collective job, but if anyone stood out it was Saddiq Bey. The guard has several high-level matches and against Milwaukee it was no less. 34 points with 8 triples, both career records, marked the way for a Pistons who knew how to break the game in the fourth quarter.
Along with Bey also had a great night Josh Jackson, who added 24 points in 20 minutes from the bench. Cade Cunningham, returning from a four-game absence, contributed 19 points and 7 assists. With this victory Detroit broke a negative streak of 12 consecutive losses against the Bucks in regular season by an average difference of 16.7 points.
“This is a great victory for us, a breath of fresh air. Everyone can calm down and now just play their game without thinking so much. When you are losing, all those other things, the problems that you are having, are amplified. When you can find ways to win, when you stick together in tough games and achieve victory, all the work you do comes more easily, ”says the No. 1 in the 2021 draft.
Milwaukee outgunned
Whether it was due to lack of motivation or overconfidence, the truth is that the Bucks lived the entire game without being able to control their rival, who beat them 31-21 in assists. Questioned by the appearance on the floor, Antetokounmpo, the author of 31 points and 10 rebounds, believes that Detroit basically played better than them.
“They just did a great job moving the ball, finding the player open, making shots, not letting us gain momentum… They played well. They played very well.
Along with the Greek, Jrue Holiday’s 29 points stood out, as well as the double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds that Bobby Portis completed.
