On the 12th day of Russia’s war on Ukraine, fighting raged in towns around Kyiv, and the Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that Russian forces were mobilizing to storm the capital, in parallel with tightening the cordon on major cities in the south and center.
While Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that military operations will continue until Ukrainian forces stop fighting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that his country will not be defeated and will not be broken.
In humanitarian terms, the mass flight of civilians from Ukraine continued, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said that more than 1.5 million people crossed from Ukraine to neighboring countries in 10 days.
Politically, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said President Joe Biden was clear that his administration would not put the United States in direct conflict with Russia.
