Today, Thursday, Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui announced a squad of 26 players, headed by Brahim Diaz and Achraf Hakimi, to face Gabon and Lesotho in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations, while winger Hakim Ziyech continued to be absent.
Morocco (host of the Cup of Nations) will host Gabon on November 15, before hosting Lesotho 72 hours later.
Regragui relied on the usual names in his squad, with the presence of defender Hakimi (Saint-Germain) and winger Diaz (Real Madrid), who missed the two Central African matches last month due to injury, in addition to goalkeeper Yacine Bounou (Al-Hilal) and midfielders Sofiane Amrabat and Azzedine Ounahi.
Ziyech (Galatasaray) continued to be absent from the squad for the second time in a row, while Royal Army goalkeeper Ayoub El Khayati was called up for the first time.
Regardless of its results in the qualifiers, Morocco qualifies for the finals scheduled between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026, as the host country’s representative.
