Egyptian Mohamed Salah raised speculation about the possibility of his departure from his team, Liverpool, after a lengthy dialogue he had recently with the Spanish newspaper “AS”.
Salah told AS: “Real Madrid and Barcelona are great teams. We never know what will happen in the future.”
The retired Egyptian star, Mohamed Aboutrika, who is close to Salah, increased these speculations, during recent media statements to him that his countryman feels resentment and anger at the “Reds”.
The former Egyptian Al-Ahly star claimed, “Liverpool is considering selling Salah for economic purposes.”
Aboutrika also revealed, “I have contacted Salah about his situation at Liverpool and he is upset, but that will never affect his performance on the field.”
He continued, “I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool. He told me the reasons for his unhappiness, but they are secrets, and I cannot talk about them publicly.”
Aboutrika added that: “One of the reasons that angered Salah was that he was not captain of the team against Metjeland of Denmark in the Champions League.”
And German Jurgen Klopp, coach of Liverpool, decided to award the captaincy of the “Reds” to Trent Alexander-Arnold instead of Salah during the confrontation with the Danish team, in the final sixth round of the group stage of the “Champions League”.
However, the British newspaper “The Sun” indicated that Klopp and the club management are very happy with the remarkable level of the Egyptian star with Liverpool, indicating that they have no idea of dispensing with him.
The Sun reported that with the Salah family settling in Liverpool, it is unlikely that the incident will force the Egyptian player to seek a transfer to another club.
Mohamed Salah, 28, who is currently the top scorer in the English Premier League with 13 goals, is linked to a contract with Liverpool until the end of June 2023.
