Barcelona announced Monday that its former president Joan Laporta and three other candidates have passed the first stage of running for the presidential elections, with each of them obtaining 2257 necessary signatures from the club’s affiliates.
The Catalan club indicated in a statement that the accepted candidates, in addition to Laporta, are Victor Font, Tony Frica and Emily Russo.
He added, “Jordi Vary, Xavier Villajuana, Agusti Benedetto, Luis Fernandez Alla and Pierre Riera were unable to reach the minimum number of signatures required.”

The process of verifying the authenticity and registration of signatures will begin on Tuesday, and end Thursday.
The club regulations stipulate that a candidate aspiring to run for the elections must collect at least 2,257 signatures necessary from the club’s affiliates (fans-contributors) to become an official candidate.
According to the “Blograna” statement, Laporta collected the largest number of signatures (10272), followed by Font (4713), Frica (2822), and Rousseau (2510).
The elections will be held on January 24th.
