(Trends Wide) — A former Disney World theme park employee was arrested and charged in Florida after allegedly videotaping a park goer up her skirt late last month, and may have been similarly attacking other park goers for years, according to a arrest affidavit.
Authorities responded to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 31 after an employee recorded an “upskirt” video of a visitor at the Star Wars store, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office affidavit.
According to the affidavit, then-employee Jorge Díaz Vega, 26, told authorities in an interview that he “had been recording videos of unknown women at Disney World theme parks for approximately six years.”
Diaz Vega, who worked at the lightsaber store, told authorities he had more than 500 such videos on his phone and showed detectives “several examples of the videos,” according to the affidavit.
“The videos were of several women who seemed unaware that they were being recorded,” the affidavit states. During her interview, Diaz Vega told detectives that she recorded the videos “because they are hard to find on the internet and they give her sexual gratification.”
An 18-year-old woman, the alleged victim of one of the videos recorded on March 31, was informed by a security agent later that same day that someone had been caught taking a picture under her dress in the lightsaber store, According to the document.
She “knew nothing at the time of the incident and was not informed of the man’s identity,” authorities say in the affidavit.
When Trends Wide contacted Disney for comment and to verify Díaz Vega’s dates of employment, a spokesperson told Trends Wide: “The individual does not work for the company.”
Díaz Vega was arrested on March 31 on suspicion of video voyeurism and held on $2,500 bail. He was released from the Orange County jail, records show.
Trends Wide has attempted to contact Diaz Vega directly for comment. He currently does not have an attorney listed.
