Distributed solar generation, through solar panels installed in the consumption center such as the roofs of homes and businesses, will register double-digit growth in 2023, that is, between 15% and 20%, estimated Sergio Rodríguez, Service Manager for Latin America at Ginlong Solis, exceeding 2,000 installed megawatts (double compared to 2020), regardless of whether or not regulatory changes take place in the industry.
The director of this Chinese-Mexican company that has become a regional leader specialized in the sector, said that distributed generation is the one that has best overcome adjustments in regulatory issues that could occur at the beginning of the year and is one of the best options for May the adoption of solar energy in Mexico continue to grow.
By 2022, distributed generation, or rooftop solar panels, is expected to reach 1,676 megawatts installed and possibly more than 20,000 contracts signed by customers of all sizes.
And it is that solar installations for the residential area and small businesses are not being affected by the vision of privileging the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) over the private ones that this administration has. The solutions of this Chinese company are used for residential, commercial and large-scale users for each regional market.
“As one more attraction is the new generation of inverters that convert sunlight into electricity and now have energy storage with lithium batteries, among others,” said Solís.
These new equipment potentiate the photovoltaic systems and are also digitized, which allows control and monitoring of the operation.
The generation of electrical energy through fossil fuels has increased its costs in the last year, while the solar continues to increase, given its economic benefits, stressed the businessman.
Mexico has an annual average of 5.3 kilowatt hours per square meter of solar energy, being one of the countries with the greatest natural wealth in this sense. These factors have led to the fact that in Mexico the adoption of distributed generation systems has multiplied by 8,000 times.
“Given the arrival of new equipment such as inverters with storage such as the Solis high-voltage hybrid inverter for residential energy storage,” said Sergio Rodríguez,
“Sixth-generation energy storage inverters even provide support to correct instabilities in the grid in the event of a power outage, providing a whole-home solution,” he added.
The company manager explained that this Chinese company is committed to continuing to invest in Mexico, where it will focus its efforts on solar energy through distributed generation that consists of the production of less than 0.5 megawatts installed.
