Serbian star Novak Djokovic, the world number one tennis player, said that he is eager to play in front of the public again when he participates in the Australian Open tennis tournament for the 17th time during his career.
“I got goose bumps when I played in front of an audience for the first time in 12 months,” the 33-year-old Serbian star told reporters.
Yesterday, Djokovic played an exhibition match in Australia in front of an audience after the mandatory 14-day quarantine had ended.
He added, “After practicing tennis at a professional level for 15 years, playing in front of the public is one of the most important sources of encouragement and inspiration, as a result of the renewal of energy, mutual emotions and happiness that I feel about sports and the happiness that the public feels towards sports.”
Djokovic, who won the Australian Open eight times, said he was grateful to be able to come and play in Australia again.
“I think like most of the rest of the people here in Australia, I feel grateful that we had the opportunity to train, play and compete in the sport we love.”
