In addition to President AMLO’s constitutional reform initiative, 24 Morena initiatives are included. Eight from the PAN, seven from the PRI, five from the Citizen Movement, four from the PT and one from the Congress of Aguascalientes
The electoral reform has not yet been finalized and it is already a matter of social polarization. True to his quarrelsome style, the president and his caucus have announced an electoral reform, choosing the worst allies for this purpose.
The electoral reform will be dictated by the Governance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies chaired by the already domesticated Alito Moreno. Neither slow nor lazy does the red circle consider that Mr. Alito has already sold the electoral reform and his unconditional support for Morena’s candidate in 2024. Poor little PRI.
In addition to the constitutional reform initiative of President López Obrador, 24 initiatives by Morena are included. Eight other initiatives are from the PAN, seven from the PRI, five from the Citizen Movement, four from the Labor Party and one from the Congress of Aguascalientes.
The much-attacked reform of the president, which is attributed to Pablo Gómez, proposes: I) change the name of the INE (National Electoral Institute), it would be called INEC (National Electoral and Consultation Institute); II) Reduce the number of deputies from 500 to 300 and senators from 128 to 96; III) The councilors of the INEC and magistrates of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) will be proposed by the three powers of the Union and elected by popular vote in open elections; IV) public financing of political parties only for electoral campaigns; V) eliminates local electoral bodies and VI) implements electronic voting.
The premises from which the reform is based are forceful and undeniable: I) the high cost of organizing the elections, which has allowed for golden castes of officials in the National Electoral Institute and in the leadership of the parties; II) the excessive number of legislators with their retinues of advisers who are useless and III) the political loot for the majority parliamentary fractions that the general council of the INE has become.
Beyond the war positions of the “I defend the INE” it is urgent to find mechanisms that ensure the participation of trained people in the general council to replace the prevailing one that only serves to choose the compadres of the leaders in the Chamber of Deputies.
Dear reader, rather than fight, it would be interesting to know what the mechanisms and requirements will be to propose to the electoral consultants, from the outset, it would impose that they at least have finished primary. Until next time.
