A local council in the United Kingdom has urged parents not to allow their children to watch the popular “Squid Game” due to the violent nature of its scenes.
According to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, the Education Protection Team at Bedfordshire Council sent an email to parents and guardians in that area, advising them to “exercise caution after reports that children and young people are imitating games and violence from the series.”
“We strongly advise that children not watch Squid Game. The series contains a lot of violent scenes,” the post read.
It was reported, earlier, that children under the age of six imitate the scenes of the series, in school playgrounds, leading to “fatal consequences.”
The Bedfordshire Council warning is among a series of warnings officials have sent to parents of children and pupils about Squid Game.
The South Korean series achieved a resounding success worldwide when it was shown last month, achieving more than 111 million views for the first time in the history of Netflix.
The 9-episode “The Squid Game” revolves around cash-strapped contestants vying to the death in a bid to win $38.31 million.
