Ben Simmons is back in Philadelphia. And now that? Well, it is not entirely clear. With the current situation, it seems that the most likely is still that he will be traded at some point, but until that happens the 76ers will have to define how much they intend to have him on the track. Doc Rivers himself spoke recently on the subject, and acknowledged that his intention is for Ben to play, although he also made certain doubts about it.
«I assume that he is going to play, but who knows. I can’t read anyone’s mind, “said the technician. “Whether he plays or not will depend on what we see this week, since he starts at a disadvantage because he has not been with us during the preseason. Another issue is whether we should hurry him up and make him play as soon as possible. What we see of him these days is what will allow us to decide what to do from now on.
The truth is that it seems logical that, if the point guard rejoins the team’s discipline, he should do so to play. It even makes sense in the face of a possible transfer, since a good start to the course could end up encouraging undecided franchises to jump into it and stop being conservative. In this sense, the start of the season will make the shortcomings of other squads begin to come to light, which could also cause some teams to start thinking of Ben as a reinforcement.
Doc was also asked about the transfer request, but he was much more concise in that regard, noting that he is not entirely clear how the relationship with the player has evolved in that sense: “He has expressed his wish, but we will see how everything works henceforth, “he concluded.
