Doctors Without Borders announced the withdrawal of its employees from the central region of the Gaza Strip, including Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, against the backdrop of the ongoing Israeli occupation army bombing of that area.
“With a heavy conscience, we have to evacuate our staff, while patients and hospital workers, and many people seeking safety, remain in the hospital buildings,” said Carolina Lopez, the organization’s emergency coordinator at the Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza.
Regarding the increase in Israeli attacks on the central region of Gaza, Lopez explained, “Yesterday, a bullet penetrated the wall of the intensive care unit in (Martyrs) Al-Aqsa Hospital, and during the past two days, drone attacks and sniper fire were falling a few hundred meters from the hospital.”

The international organization confirmed that it had taken this difficult decision to evacuate its employees and their families from the central region of Gaza following the evacuation order issued by the Israeli forces through leaflets dropped from the air in the neighborhoods surrounding the hospital, stressing that the situation had taken a dangerous turn to the point that some employees living in the neighboring areas They were unable to leave their homes due to constant threats from drones and snipers.
She pointed out that patient care is negatively affected with the decrease in the number of employees in the hospital, adding that under international humanitarian law, Israel must protect patients and workers in the only operating hospital in the central region of Gaza.

In a related development, the “Health Workers for Palestine” movement organized a protest yesterday, Saturday, on the bridge overlooking Downing Street, in the British capital, London, to protest the Israeli violations in Gaza, the storming of health facilities and the targeting of ambulances.
The protesters placed pictures of the martyrs and scattered flowers around them. They also carried the names of the martyred doctors and nurses who were martyred since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, whether they were Palestinians or doctors from missions and relief institutions.
