The 2025 World Series begins Friday in Toronto, featuring a compelling matchup between the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, who are making their first Fall Classic appearance since winning back-to-back titles in 1992-93.
The Dodgers, led by reigning National League MVP Shohei Ohtani and a formidable pitching staff, enter the series with significant momentum. After overcoming a midseason slump, they swept the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, a series punctuated by Ohtani hitting three home runs while striking out ten batters in the pennant-clinching game. This marks the Dodgers’ fifth World Series appearance since 2017.
The Blue Jays secured home-field advantage by finishing the regular season with one more win than Los Angeles. Anchored by stars Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer, Toronto’s success has been built on timely hitting and a solid pitching core, reminiscent of their championship teams from the early ’90s.
The best-of-seven series schedule is as follows, with all games starting at 8 p.m. ET:
