Tokyo, Jan 4 (.) .- The US dollar climbed today to the high band of 115 yen, a level not seen with the Japanese currency in five years.
The greenback came to exceed 115.7 yen during today’s operations in Tokyo after having moved in a band between 115.3 and 115.4 the day before in New York.
The increase in the price of the dollar responds to the rise in the yield of US bonds on Monday and the discharge of yen, considered a safe investment in times of turbulence, by investors in Tokyo, where the main indicator of the local stock market , the, added today a resounding advance over 1.5%.
The dollar has not traded as high against the yen since January 2017, although it is still far from its mid-2015 valuation, when it traded above 125 yen per unit.
