President Donald Trump is hinting that he’ll be back on the political scene, but otherwise keeping his own counsel as he starts his new life as a Florida resident and golf club regular.

Trump has been in virtual seclusion since flying Mar a Lago in West Palm Beach in the final hours of his presidency – although he did hit the links his first day out of office and made it to the Grill Room of his golf club Friday.

‘We’ll do something, but not just yet,’ he told the Washington Examiner in a brief interaction at his regular table at the private Trump International Golf Club restaurant before an aide quickly cut short the encounter.

‘We’ll do something, but not just yet,’ former President Donald Trump told the Washington Examiner at his golf club Friday. On Thursday, he spent his first first day as a private citizen golfing on his West Palm Beach, Florida course

It was Trump’s first public comment since Joe Biden was sworn in, with the former president blocked from Twitter and choosing not to take part in the historic transfer of power Wednesday. That event featured events to bolster its ‘unity’ theme like having former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama all speak to the nation in a joint video from Arlington Cemetery.

Trump has more to do in his post-presidency than simply reflect on his tenure or plot a comeback: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she will transmit an impeachment article to the Senate on Monday.

That means Trump’s impeachment trial on ‘incitement of insurrection’ will formally begin the following day, although senators could reach an agreement to postpone arguments and other matters.

Trump and his lawyers will immediately have to begin work on a defense. Federal authorities have arrested more than 125 people as they roll up alleged perpetrators of the January 6 MAGA riot in the Capitol.

Trump also must reimagine what his public profile will be, without use of the social media outlets he is accustomed to. Groundskeepers on his course were seen planting new palm trees around the perimeter – perhaps to obstruct the view that has allowed media members to get shots of him on the course.

The tree-planting comes just one day after a CNN cameraman shot footage of the former president. Even with the campaign and transition behind him, Trump could be seen sporting a red ‘MAGA hat’.
