The Iraqi government announced that more than 30 people were killed and 100 wounded as a result of two suicide bombings that rocked the center of the capital, Baghdad, today, Thursday.
Iraqi Health Minister Hassan Al-Tamimi stated in a press statement that the death toll from the double attack rose to 32 dead and 110 injured, indicating that no deaths have been reported among the injured in health institutions yet.
The RT correspondent confirmed earlier in the day that a suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowded clothes market in Tayaran Square in the city center, adding that a second suicide explosion followed the first, which occurred hundreds of meters away in the Bab al-Sharqi area.
For his part, the spokesman for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasul Abdullah, announced in a statement that the suicide bombers detonated themselves after being pursued by the security forces.
