Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense reported in a tweet on Twitter for social networking that 16 Taliban militants were killed and 11 others wounded when the Defense Forces launched a retaliatory attack in response to Taliban attacks in Nawa and Nad Ali districts in Helmand province.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Taliban had planted 9 explosive devices on public roads, but the Afghan National Army discovered them later and neutralized them.
The ministry said: “9 explosive devices were discovered that were placed on public roads and dismantled them by the Afghan National Army during a retaliatory operation.”
In a separate incident, two Taliban militants were killed and three others were wounded in mutual attacks with Afghan security forces in Dushi district of Baghlan province yesterday evening, and the forces managed to confiscate a large number of ammunition and weapons of militants in the aftermath of the attacks.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense stated that on the same night in Hesarik district of Nangarhar Province, 5 Taliban members were killed after attacking positions of the Afghan National Defense Forces.
This comes at a time when the Afghan National Army repulsed Taliban attacks in Herat Province, killing 11 Taliban and destroying a large amount of their ammunition and weapons during the Afghan National Army attacks.
