Goran Dragic will be out of the Raptors for a season. The franchise announced in the run-up to their match against the Celtics that the Slovenian point guard was not with the team due to personal reasons, and there is no set date for his return. The Canadians have wanted to make it clear that the player has their full support, and have preferred not to specify what is the circumstance that has forced him to put basketball aside.
“Dragic has been a great professional in his time with us,” said Bobby Webster, general manager of the team. “He has been a very good mentor to our young men and an excellent companion to the older ones. He has our full support, and I know that he will continue to work and stay fit in the time he is away from us. “
The Slovenian has been able to play only five games so far this season, in which he has averaged 8 points and 2.8 rebounds. Dragic has only played one of the last 17 games of his own, and we’ll see when he’s back in for minutes.
