DRO arrested for the collapse of the Rébsamen

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of Francisco Arturo Pérez Rodríguez, one of the three Directors Responsible for Work (DRO) of the Enrique Rébsamen School, where 26 people died, including 19 minors, during the earthquake of September 19, 2017.

Francisco Pérez Rodríguez was arrested in Oaxaca by agents of the Investigation Police of the capital of the country when completing an arrest warrant for the crime of homicide, in commission by omission, under the scheme of eventual fraud.

Ulises Lara, spokesman for the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office, explained that the capture took place early this Thursday in the municipality of Villa de Etla, Oaxaca.

“Through the intelligence work of the Investigative Police of Mexico City, which covered many months of work 24 hours a day, it was possible to obtain the geolocation of this man, which is why field personnel went to said municipality and After discreet surveillance, in addition to follow-ups, as well as a citizen call, the person apprehended today was located,” he said in a videoconference.

Pérez Rodríguez was transferred to Mexico City to be admitted to the South Male Preventive Prison.

The spokesman for the Prosecutor’s Office recalled that, due to the collapse of the school located in the Tlalpan mayor’s office, three people have already been arrested: Mónica “N”, owner and director of the Enrique Rébsamen school, apprehended on May 11, 2019 and already sentenced.

As well as Juan Mario “N”, Responsible Director of Works, apprehended on July 22, 2018, and Juan Apolinar “N”, Responsible Director of Works, apprehended on October 30, 2019.

While Francisco Arturo Pérez Rodríguez, who also had an arrest warrant for possible environmental crimes, is accused of granting the structural opinion that endorsed the support of the weight to build the apartment inhabited by Mónica García Villegas, owner and director of the College rebsam.
