The Anaheim Ducks solidified a key piece of their defense on Thursday, signing Jackson LaCombe to an eight-year contract extension. The deal, for which financial terms were not disclosed, will begin with the 2026-27 season.
“We are excited to sign Jackson to a long-term contract and lock up a core player for our future,” said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. “Getting this deal done early was a priority for us. Jackson has all of the tools to be an anchor on our back end for many years to come.”
The 24-year-old defenseman is entering the final season of a two-year contract and was set to become a restricted free agent next summer. Last season, he recorded 43 points (14 goals, 29 assists) in 75 games.
Selected by Anaheim in the second round (39th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, LaCombe has accumulated 60 points (16 goals, 44 assists) over 148 career games.
“Today is an exciting day for my family and I am grateful to the organization for their belief in me,” LaCombe said. “It was an easy decision for me to commit my future to the Ducks and Orange County. We are building something special here and I am excited to do everything I can to help this team win.”
LaCombe’s extension comes just five days after the Ducks signed forward Mason McTavish to a six-year deal, also set to begin next season. The 22-year-old McTavish led the team with 22 goals and finished second in scoring with 52 points in 76 games last season.
