Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Apple has urged iPhone and iPad users to update their operating systems immediately to fix security bugs that may be exploited by hackers.
The company said on its support page on the Internet that 3 security flaws “may have been actively exploited.” “Apple” did not reveal many details about the errors, noting that it “does not disclose, discuss or confirm security problems until an investigation is conducted and corrections or new versions are available.”
The problem is a link in an exploit chain, which means that the hacker will need to exploit more errors in order to be able to carry out the entire process. The company declined to comment on any attacks.
The company launched security fixes on Tuesday as part of its new operating system iOS14.4, which also includes fixes for keyboard lag and allows the camera to read smaller QR codes.
Apple said that two security problems stem from the “Web Kit”, which is an open source browsing engine used by Safari’s browsers and the iOS operating system. “A remote intruder may be able to cause arbitrary code execution,” the company said in the new system description notes.
Apple prides itself on the security of its hardware, but it is not entirely vulnerable to vulnerabilities. Last year, Google researchers found many websites that contain codes that allow hackers to quietly infiltrate iPhones. Meanwhile, a bug in the iOS 13 operating system revealed contact details stored on iPhones without the need for a passcode or biometric identification, a problem that the company did not publicly address until several months after it was first reported.
