Under the slogan “Let’s unite our forces and create opportunities”, the Eastern Economic Forum kicked off today, Tuesday, on Russky Island, in the Russian Vladivostok region, for the ninth time.
The forum will last for 3 days, with the participation of more than 6,000 people from 76 countries and regions. Last year, guests from 62 countries participated, including those classified as Russia that it is not friendly, including the United States, Japan, Germany and France.
The first day also witnessed the launch of the second international forum under the title “Falcon Day”, whose activities will be dedicated to developing rehabilitation centres, modern methods for restoring natural populations, as well as advanced scientific techniques for studying and monitoring falcon numbers.
The main event on the agenda of the general session is to review the experiences of countries in preserving birds of prey from the falcon family, and to hold a discussion on the re-population of the Houbara bustard.
In addition, an open-air cultural square called the “Arabian Village” has been created to provide guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the hospitality and authenticity of the Arabian Peninsula culture, and to learn about the diversity of Eastern culture, customs and traditions.
One of the striking additions to the forum’s activities is the allocation of an area for experimental flights of birds of prey specially brought from the largest Russian reserves and nurseries.
Creative innovation
The forum will include events within the framework of the BRICS Creative Innovation Forum, which will discuss, among other things, the digitization of languages and creative industries. Separately, the development of the gaming industry in the Far East.
In addition, about 100 seminars will be held on economic and investment issues, covering the topics of “New Features of International Cooperation”, “Independence Technologies”, “Financial Value System”, “Russia’s Far East”, “People, Education and Patriotism”, “New in Transport and Logistics Issues” and other issues.
The Russian President is participating Vladimir Putin On the second and third days of the forum. During the period from September 3 to 6, the exhibition will be available to the forum participants, and on the 7th and 8th it will be open to everyone.
Although the Corona pandemic has ended, this forum has taken safety measures to prevent the spread of infection.
As in previous years, participants must pass medical tests to gain access to the event site.
Meetings and dialogues
The Eastern Economic Forum was established as a platform for developing the Far Eastern economy and expanding international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region in 2015, about a year after the annexation of Crimea to Russia and the subsequent Western sanctions against Moscow.
The forum activities are held in the form of discussion sessions, round tables, teleconferences, business breakfasts, and business dialogues dedicated to Russia’s relations with various countries of the world.
The forum’s agenda includes trade dialogues with leading partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a major integration grouping of dynamic developing countries in Southeast Asia.
Vladivostok is located in the south of the Russian Far East and is home to one of the largest ports in Russia. The city is located on the mainland of the Muravyov-Amur Peninsula and covers an area of about 325 square kilometers.
It extends for about 30 km from south to north and about 10 km from west to east, and is washed by the waters of the Amur and Ussuri Gulfs, which are part of the Peter the Great Gulf in the Sea of Japan.
