Economic Package 2023 recognizes compliant taxpayers and goes after tax evaders: Yorio

The Economic Package 2023 recognizes those taxpayers fulfilled by not increasing or creating new taxes, he indicated before deputies Gabriel YorioUndersecretary of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).

During his appearance before the Treasury and Public Credit Commission, of the Chamber of Deputiesexplained that the Initiative of the Federal Income Law (ILIF) 2023 does not contemplate tax changes, and it will be through the modifications that were made in past years that the fight against those who carry out tax evasion and/or avoidance will continue.

“The discipline in fiscal matters, which has characterized this administration, will continue. The economic program does not contemplate or create new taxes, which recognizes compliant taxpayers and focuses on those individuals and legal entities that deliberately evade, evade and they defraud the fiscal authority,” asserted the undersecretary of the Treasury.

The official said that the 2023 Economic Package is prudent with the economic data that has been observed, and the estimates put in the General Criteria of Economic Policy were based on realistic scenarios, according to what the country is experiencing and the economic situation at the level world.

The official stressed that another priority of the government is not to increase the debt as a percentage of GDP, for which reason swaps and refinancing have been carried out through the Ministry of Finance for this purpose.

“The active refinancing operations and strategies carried out during this government have allowed savings of almost 1,000 million dollars in debt service, which has contributed to guaranteeing the sustainability of the debt in the public sector,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Arturo Medina, Fiscal Attorney, explained that the government’s proposal maintains the necessary actions to strengthen the tax base and increase tax revenue through the measures that have been approved.

“(How) the permanence of the Simplified Trust Regime, known as Resico, which broadens the tax base by counting informality. The establishment of tax control and information mechanisms, such as the necessary business reason and materiality of taxpayer operations, restrictions on capitalization and interest deduction to avoid unjustified erosion of ISR, as well as actions against tax evasion and tax avoidance and the hardening of the investigation and prosecution of tax crimes against organized crime”, he said in his participation.

ILIF 2023 —which must be approved by the plenary session of San Lázaro no later than October 20 to be turned over to the Senate— contemplates income of 8.29 billion pesos, resources that will be obtained mainly from the tax payment of taxpayers, even without a tax reform or a Miscellaneous Tax.

The foregoing is given with a projection of economic growth for the following year of 3.0%, where they expect inflation to slow down to 3.2%, data that contrasts with market expectations that place GDP around 2%, while the forecasts of several institutions indicate that inflation will continue above the target range of the Bank of Mexico of 3% +/- 1 percentage point next year.
