Before getting engaged to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle ran a lifestyle blog, The Tig, puffing everything from her favourite wines to her most pleasurable holidays.

The Suits actress was forced to ditch it when she married into the Royal Family, but sparked speculation she was planning a relaunch last September when she applied to reactivate The Tig trademark.

I can reveal there was, however, one flaw in the application — she failed to sign it.

Now, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has informed the Duchess of Sussex she will have to twiddle her thumbs for six months before being able to apply again.

It has also told her the original description of the website was ‘too broad’.

The more detailed selection of subjects Meghan’s planning to cover include food, cooking, recipes, travel, relationships, fashion, style, lifestyle, the arts, culture, design, conscious living, and health and wellness.

Pink Floyd’s Nick drums up a fortune on furlough

On their classic song Money, Pink Floyd mocked the greedy rich, singing: ‘It’s a crime’ and ‘I’m all right, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack’.

Now, founder member Nick Mason has opened himself up to criticism by admitting that he used the Government furlough scheme during the pandemic to claim up to £100,000 of taxpayers’ cash.

The legendary drummer, 78, is one of Britain’s wealthiest musicians, worth an estimated £110 million and lives in the Duchess of Cornwall’s former country home.

Despite the fortune, he claimed up to £10,000 a month for his royalty business, Government documents reveal.

Details of the claims come after The Dark Side Of The Moon musician filed accounts for his company Nick Mason Music Ltd, which saw retained profits go up by £1.3 million.

The company now has reserves of £6 million, according to the accounts which cover the 12 months to the end of June 2021.

Mason’s company claimed between £1 and £10,000 each month between December 2020 and September 2021, when the scheme ended.

Company paperwork says the firm employs 11 people and as well as the rocker, counts his wife Annette, 68, among the directors.

The couple live in the former marital home of Camilla and Andrew Parker Bowles, in Corsham, Wiltshire, which they open to the public each year.

Mason has amassed one of the world’s most celebrated car collections, with his warehouse home to a priceless hoard of Ferraris, Maseratis, Aston Martins, Bugattis and Porsches.

And he is part of the Football Ventures consortium which ploughed £10 million into the League 1 Bolton Wanderers to bring it out of administration.

Mason joins a list of hugely wealthy stars who have used the furlough scheme despite having large personal fortunes.

Others using it include Jamie Oliver, Petra Ecclestone and Cara Delevingne’s family business.

Known for his sculpted abs, glowing skin, flowing locks and boundless energy, Joe Wicks shocked fans when he shared a photograph last month revealing his pot belly and flabby ‘bingo wings’.

Now, the ‘nation’s PE teacher’ is desperate to avoid piling on even more pounds as he hits the road for BBC Children In Need.

He wails: ‘I’m going to be offered loads of snacks, chocolates, cakes and brownies when I visit the schools, which are never easy to turn down.’

Some MPs were exposed for not using their taxpayer-funded second homes, but Jess Phillips shares the joys of living away from her spouse, Tom.

‘I live separately from my husband,’ says the Labour MP, 40, who has two teenage sons.

‘I live in London half the time. My favourite night is the first I’m back with him, and my second favourite is the first I’m away. I like having a separate life to him. And he likes it, too. I’m like the divorced dad at the weekend — “What fun things shall we do?” ’

Son told Blair not to come

What could possibly have induced Tony Blair to speak at the Crypto Bahamas gathering at the beachside Nassau resort of Baha Mar, alongside ex-U.S. President Bill Clinton and Hollywood star Orlando Bloom?

After all, he admitted he was not up to speed with the latest lingo of NFTs and ‘web 3 space’.

He said: ‘I called my son, who runs his own tech firm, before I came out to speak.’

Tech entrepreneur Euan Blair’s advice was stark. ‘He said: “Dad, say you’re sick. Don’t get on that stage.”’

Blair was upstaged by conference chair Sam Bankman-Fried, a 30-year-old crypto-billionaire clad in white T-shirt and tennis shorts.

‘I’m feeling a little over-dressed,’ confessed the former PM, who wore an open-necked shirt and jacket.

Perhaps it was unsettling for him to be the least wealthy person in the room for once?

Mad men star Jared Harris, who played George VI in The Crown, fondly remembered his glamorous mother, Elizabeth Harris Aitken, at her funeral at St Matthew’s church, Westminster, yesterday.

After consigning her sons to ‘a very conservative boarding school’ — Downside in Somerset, ‘she turned up for sports day,’ said Jared, ‘dressed like Raquel Welch in One Thousand Years B.C. It made us very popular’.

Better still, she drove husband Sir Rex Harrison’s Rolls-Royce into the science block, taking out ‘an entire corner. All chemistry classes were cancelled. That made us even more popular.’

Hayley does her make-up in mid-air

Looking this good for a Hollywood premiere took a superhuman effort by Hayley Atwell.

The actress, 40, says she had to do her ‘skin prep on the flight’ from London because she was so short of time before the gala screening of superhero film Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, in which she stars as agent Peggy Carter.

Atwell reveals she finished her routine, which involved a facial mask, with just a few hours left before she hit the red carpet.

Surely, she faces greater challenges in the forthcoming Mission: Impossible films.

The Queen’s dream of a Derby winner seems lost this year.

Her Derby hopeful, Reach For The Moon, will miss the showpiece event at Epsom next month after suffering a setback in its recovery from injury.

Reach For The Moon was fancied by many to be a horse that could reward the monarch with one of sport’s biggest prizes. The Derby is the one major race that the Queen has not managed to win.

‘We had planned to run him in the Dante Stakes at York,’ says trainer John Gosden. ‘However, in the best interests of the horse, we have decided that this race is coming too soon for him.

‘Consequently, he will not run in the Derby and will be pointed towards Royal Ascot.’

Lambing time is shear joy, says Clementine

Looking after the five young bridesmaids at Princess Diana’s wedding was a daunting challenge, but now one of them is shepherding her own flock.

Clementine Hambro, 46, a great-granddaughter of Sir Winston Churchill, is having to cope with the birth of 20 lambs at her Gloucestershire estate.

And, to help her, she was joined by another of Diana’s bridesmaids, India Hicks, 54, granddaughter of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

‘I’ve been farming sheep for five years and this is my first year of rearing the valley blacknose,’ Clemmie (above right) tells me.

She has four children with her husband, Orlando Fraser, 54, son of historian Lady Antonia Fraser and the late Tory MP Sir Hugh Fraser.

‘It’s back to late nights and early mornings — it’s like having babies,’ she says. ‘I’m going to breed them to sell them.’

Clemmie found one of the tote bags designed by India handy for carrying lambs, telling me: ‘It seemed happy to be carried around as they love attention.’

India jokes: ‘Not many of us think of becoming a shepherdess.’
