He’s ridden a motorbike over a cliff, scaled a 2,716ft skyscraper and narrowly avoided being decapitated in a Samurai sword fight.
But Tom Cruise has now achieved a feat that would make a socialite green with envy.
The Hollywood star, 59, squeezed in not one, not two, but three of the season’s biggest sporting events in 24 hours while on a break from filming Mission: Impossible 7 in London.
Feeling the need for speed on Sunday, the Top Gun star was helicoptered into the Duke of Richmond’s 12,000-acre estate in Chichester, West Sussex, for the final day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

There, he was joined by his Mission co-star — and reported girlfriend — Hayley Atwell, 39, with whom he had attended the Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles Final the day before. ‘The Festival drew eager crowds keen to celebrate everything motoring and motorsport,’ the Duke tells me. ‘It has been fantastic to see so many people enjoying it.’
Cruise, however, couldn’t stay for too long: he had to rush back to London for 2pm to see Novak Djokovic’s victory in the men’s final.
And while that would have been quite enough sport for some, Cruise was determined to finish it off at Wembley, where by 8pm he was seated next to David Beckham to watch England in the big Euro 2020 final against Italy.

During the tournament, he had been backing England and even called the team to wish them good luck ahead of Sunday night.
‘He just dialled in and FaceTimed us just to wish us the best, so that was nice of him,’ captain Harry Kane revealed.
Sadly, England winning a trophy remains mission: impossible.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s old friend Emma Sayle claims demand for her infamous sex parties has gone through the roof since Boris Johnson announced Freedom Day would be next Monday.
Her business, Killing Kittens, has already sold more than 2,000 tickets to events including a ‘fully immersive fantasy experience based around a garden of delights’.
Sayle, who became friends with Kate Middleton when they were pupils at Downe House School in Berkshire, tells me: ‘The Roaring Twenties are back, this time dressed in masks, suspenders and stockings. It’s going to be a hot, hot summer.’ Phew.
Being a statuesque supermodel has its drawbacks. Helena Christensen says she’s too tall to wear high heels.
‘I’ve hardly ever worn them, apart from on the catwalk, probably due to my height,’ says the 52-year-old, who is 5ft 8in.
‘They’re aesthetically beautiful, but I prefer to admire them like a piece of art rather than wear them.’
When the Queen visited the cobbles last week to mark the 60th anniversary of Coronation Street, many wondered if she was secretly a fan of the show. I can reveal that it is, in fact, her senior dresser and confidante, Angela Kelly, 63, who’s a devotee of the ITV soap.
The channel’s chairman, Sir Peter Bazalgette, says: ‘We think [the Queen] watches occasionally, only because with her was her dresser, who is Coronation Street’s number one fan.’
He adds of Her Majesty: ‘She was very interested in the cobbles, and was given a cobblestone from the old site engraved with her name.
‘There are 1,514 doors in Buckingham Palace, so John Winston, the uber boss of Coronation Street, said she can use it as a doorstop.’
When Hollywood star Kate Beckinsale split from ‘toyboy’ musician Goody Grace last year after only nine months, many assumed their 24-year age gap was to blame
What should have been one of the most joyful days of his life turned to horror for the stepson of property tycoon John Hitchcox.
Cameron, teenage son of Hitchcox’s wife, Tory fundraiser Phoebe Vela, was beaten up on his way home from the Euros final at Wembley.
‘Very, very proud to be part of a multi-racial international family,’ says Hitchcox. ‘Very, very sad, angry, frustrated when one of them gets beaten up for the colour of their skin by football hooligans.’
A spokesman for three-times married Hitchcox, whose ex-girlfriends include Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson and Caprice, tells me: ‘Cameron is the loveliest, gentlest guy you could wish to meet.’
Hitchcox adds that Cameron, 19, has been a victim of a racial attack before. ‘Not for the first time,’ he says. ‘Something needs to be done to educate these people.’
Top chef Tom Aikens allegedly once branded a staff member with a palette knife, while Gordon Ramsay’s foul mouth is the stuff of legend, but Michelin-starred Sat Bains says some of his fellow chefs are even worse.
‘I had friends — this is no lie — that would feed their team out of a metal bowl, a dog bowl,’ says MasterChef mentor Bains.
‘That’s the problem we have with our trade: we still have that stigma that you are a workhorse; you don’t need to be skilled.’
When Hollywood star Kate Beckinsale split from ‘toyboy’ musician Goody Grace last year after only nine months, many assumed their 24-year age gap was to blame.
In fact, I can reveal the Pearl Harbor star, 47, has no interest in long-term commitment.
Kate was married to Hollywood director Len Wiseman for 15 years until 2019. ‘I haven’t been in very long relationships since then,’ says the actress. ‘I can’t imagine living with a person and maintaining my new-found autonomy.’
She explains: ‘For women in relationships with men, it’s culturally quite easy to lose track of your life. You’ve watched your mother, your grandmother, subjugate herself — even on stupid things.’
