Edinburgh Jenners fireplace: Enormous blaze breaks out in historic creating

A fireplace broke out in a historic making in Edinburgh this morning and people have been warned to remain away from the town centre.    

Dozens of firefighters are tackling a blaze at the Jenners building on Princes Avenue in central Edinburgh.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Provider explained they had been called to fireplace at the previous office store at 11.29am.

The setting up was found ‘well alight’ and a whole of 10 fireplace appliances have been sent to the scene on Rose Road in the metropolis centre.

No casualties have been documented and some streets in the space have been shut.

Eyewitnesses claimed there ended up large plumes of black smoke pouring from the basement of the legendary developing.  

A Scottish Hearth and Rescue Company spokesman stated: ‘We ended up alerted at 11.29am on Monday January 23 to stories of a creating hearth at Rose Street, Edinburgh.

‘Operations Regulate straight away mobilised two appliances to the scene and, on arrival, firefighters located a making properly alight.’

‘A even further eight appliances, like a large attain, were mobilised and crews keep on being on scene as they work to extinguish the hearth. No casualties have been documented.’ 

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson explained: ‘The Scottish Ambulance Provider is currently in attendance at a hearth in the former Jenners developing on Princes Avenue, Edinburgh, together with The Scottish Hearth and Rescue Provider and Law enforcement Scotland.
