The month of September has not started well at all for the interests of the Indiana Pacers. The franchise has announced that Edmond Sumner will be discharged indefinitely after suffering a tear in the left Achilles tendon during training.
The guard he had a fairly discreet start to his career in which little by little he has managed to gain the confidence of the coaching staff and, with it, a greater importance in the rotation. In fact, he averaged 7.5 points and 1.8 rebounds during the 2020-21 season, spread over 53 games, 24 of them as a starter.
Sumner has one year left on his contract worth $ 2.3 million. Now, this injury seriously jeopardizes the opportunities surrounding his renewal and promotion in the league.
This news joins another with negative tints for the Pacers news. This same week, the organization announced that the recovery of TJ Warren is going at a slower pace than expected, setting off alarms within the team, as well as seriously questioning his participation in the start of the campaign.
