The state of emergency that we are living in these days to confront the Corona epidemic is not hidden, as well as the situation the world is experiencing, especially the closure of schools and the interruption of direct classroom education, and this cast a shadow on the student’s relationship with educational content, and the process of moving to e-learning was quick and without introductions, it needs To many procedures and steps that I mentioned in previous articles, and perhaps one of the most important of those procedures is to evaluate the work and learning of students that are presented to them electronically.
It is known educationally that the evaluation process is part of the education planning process, and it is a continuous process that starts from the moment of planning and ends upon completion of the presentation of goals and their explanation to the student until examining the extent to which these goals are achieved, and this process and I mean the evaluation process needs a process of control and credibility to know the strengths that are The student achieved it and the weaknesses that he failed, and this would develop treatment plans to strengthen the strengths and address the weaknesses, and this is actually achieved in the direct classroom education process, but it is absent (currently) in e-learning, for many reasons, including that the student may receive assistance from his guardian. Or his brothers, or he may resort to a book or a website to obtain answers, what should we do in this case? What is the priority evaluation or evaluation? Or is it the priority to increase student interaction and raise his motivation to engage in the e-learning process?
Legitimate and important questions that we need to answer according to the situation in which we live and the circumstances imposed on us, and here it is necessary to clarify what we mean by the calendar, its types and objectives, before going into answering these questions and before knowing what is required to be a current priority.
The evaluation is the basis of the development and renewal process, and the apparatus is considered to detect weaknesses and strengths in the teaching and learning process, and to introduce improvements, develop, and renew it. The evaluation process is an important element of the educational-learning process, and it is characterized by its continuity, as it is permanent as long as the educational process continues. Comprehensive, as it takes into account the various aspects of development, such as cognitive, dynamic, and emotional aspects, as it creates a balance in the development of the student’s personality.
The calendar is classified according to the timing of its occurrence into three types, which are the introductory or tribal evaluation, the formative or constructive evaluation, and the final or final evaluation, where the difference between the three types can be briefly clarified as follows:
First: Introductory (pre-assessment) assessment: It is known as the introductory, introductory and introductory evaluation that takes place before starting the implementation of the educational process, and the aim of it is to form a preliminary picture of the student’s position in the educational material before starting to present it, and it is summarized by what the teacher does to know the previous experiences of his students related to the new content he will present for them.
Second: Formative evaluation: It takes place during the educational process and between its stages, steps and procedures, and provides continuous feedback in all stages first-hand, as it shows strengths and weaknesses, to amend what is necessary constructively and continuously, and is done through several methods and tools such as oral questions, short tests and papers Work and solution on the board, and it aims to diagnose what the student has mastered and what he failed to achieve at an early date, so that the teacher can address the defect, and through it provides feedback that shows the student’s mistakes, and also aims to correct and correct in addition to strengthening and raising the student’s motivation Towards learning.
Third: Final (final) evaluation: It occurs after the completion of the education process, where students are exposed to a set of tools and questions through which they can determine their understanding and understanding of the lesson. Usually this type of evaluation occurs at the end of the lesson, unit or semester, and it also aims to give grades The granting of certificates, forecasting and decision-making related to promotion for the next grade, and to provide feedback that allows diagnosis and correction of performance, and to enable the educational system to compare the results of groups.
The goal of presenting the concept of evaluation, its types and objectives was not in vain, nor an attempt to prolong the article, but rather in order to place the dear reader in the goal case of the evaluation and to have a somewhat comprehensive understanding of what we need today in this emergency situation, and the student disconnects from his teacher His school, and to know what we want today from the calendar and what are the goals that we must achieve in the process of education and e-learning.
Therefore, there is no doubt that the teacher today cannot implement the evaluation process with the details mentioned previously, so the teacher can prepare worksheets and electronic tests, and he can provide feedback to his students, but he will not be able to completely trust the students ’answers, and he may not be able to improve His students learn, and this is also because the student is still not interacting in the e-learning process, so the priority now is to work to increase student interaction in e-learning, and to enhance it and raise his motivation to raise the level of organized electronic interaction in the educational learning process, and therefore it is necessary to move from the evaluation process The traditional, which was detailed at the beginning of the article and known to all, is to use a new concept in the evaluation that meets the real situation experienced by the student, and it is the real evaluation process associated with real evaluation tasks, based on performance and the development of skills, values and trends. Real life, and it works on student interaction by immersing him in tasks that are of value and meaning to them, far from the exam The traditional secret, in which the students practice higher thinking skills, adapt knowledge and apply it in their daily lives and life contexts, and use it in solving real life problems that they live, such as promoting trends related to the prevention of the Coronavirus and limiting its spread, such as making use of electronic tools and applications in the process of learning, research and self-learning skills and thus The student arrives at the concept of lifelong learning.
If and after this introduction, what is required today is for our teachers to direct the evaluation process to develop students’ life skills in problem-solving, self-research, discovery, immersion and interaction in the educational learning process, more than interest in making judgments and grading the educational content, as well as through these procedures. We can relieve pressure on our students, reduce stress on the subject of education, exams and grades, and also help them acquire important life skills such as time management, benefit from the current situation and look at it with a positive eye, and employ those skills and knowledge in solving performance life problems through which we reach to enhance values and trends Meaningful to the student.
