WASHINGTON — Elon Musk has urged a federal judge to shift a demo in a shareholder lawsuit out of San Francisco because he says damaging community media protection has biased likely jurors towards him.
Alternatively, in a filing submitted late Friday — less than two months right before the demo was set to start out on Jan. 17 — Musk’s legal professionals argue it really should be moved to the federal courtroom in the western district of Texas. The shareholder lawsuit stems from Musk’s tweets in August 2018 when he mentioned he had adequate financing to just take Tesla non-public at $420 a share — an announcement that brought about weighty volatility in Tesla’s share price tag.
