Despite her long-established comfort in the public eye, Taylor Swift is facing a growing private threat from an alleged stalker who has seemingly vanished. A months-long search for the man has gone cold, leaving the superstar in a state of constant vigilance amid a series of chilling threats.
Court documents reveal that Swift’s team has invested significant resources in locating Brian Jason Wagner, a 45-year-old Colorado native against whom she holds a temporary restraining order. In a recent court filing, licensed private investigator Brooke Berg detailed the extensive but unsuccessful search. Despite numerous calls, texts, stakeouts at former addresses, and comprehensive database searches, Wagner remains untraceable. Berg concluded that he is “either transient or actively concealing his whereabouts.”
The search is critical due to Wagner’s escalating and disturbing behavior. In Berg’s last known contact with him, Wagner made unsettling statements, claiming he was “going to have to do something about” Swift and that his life was “ruined” after she allegedly got angry with him. He also expressed a delusional belief that he was supposed to live and work at her home.
Supplemental court filings from Swift’s security team document hundreds of obsessive emails and texts from Wagner, in which he refers to the pop star as “Wifey.” His alleged actions have also escalated from digital harassment to physical trespassing, including showing up at Swift’s Los Angeles residence, diverting her mail, and attempting to link his driver’s license to her address. During one incident in July 2024, he allegedly arrived at her home with a glass bottle that security considered a potential weapon.
The ongoing threat has had a tangible impact on Swift’s life. The temporary restraining order, first granted in June, cites “unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or stalking.” According to sources, the situation is a top priority, forcing adjustments to her promotional schedules based on the perceived severity of online threats.
Her security measures have visibly intensified. Swift was recently seen entering a Kansas City Chiefs game behind a bullet-resistant screen, a level of protection typically reserved for high-ranking political figures. An insider noted that her fears have been compounded by the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, as Swift has reportedly received threats from similar extremist groups. This history of security concerns has previously led the singer to carry military-grade bandages for potential stab or gunshot wounds.
