(CNN) — Emily Blunt wants to clear up any potential misunderstandings about some advice Tom Cruise gave her.
Blunt told the “SmartLess” podcast that when they were filming “Edge of Tomorrow” in 2014, she was struggling in her heavy costume when Cruise told her, “’Come on, stop being such a s**t, okay?’
“And I laughed, and then we went through the scene,” Blunt said.
On Monday, Blunt explained that the entire story was “taken literally and absurdly out of context” by the media.
“I absolutely adore Tom, he is a very dear friend and he was a total gem to me. This was told as a joke to make me laugh and he did it in a big way,” Blunt explained to the magazine. People.

Blunt said the whole thing was due to the difficulty of trying to act while wearing a 90-pound suit on set for the project.
He then added: “It’s ridiculous to be said to have offended me. It didn’t. I shared the story just as lightly as Tom. And it’s still something we laugh about to this day.”
