(CNN) — Emma Watson celebrated her 33rd birthday with a very personal post on Instagram, after stepping back from the public spotlight.
The British actress and former “Harry Potter” star, who celebrated her birthday over the weekend, returned to Instagram after taking a break from the platform and shared a detailed update on her life with her followers.
In a series of black-and-white portraits taken last year, Watson shared some reflections, describing how she had “walked away from (her) life.”
“This is 33 years old. OMG. Before 29 I hadn’t even heard of a Saturn return as a concept. Let’s just say I know it well now,” he wrote.
In astrology, the term “Saturn return” refers to when the planet Saturn has already traveled the entire zodiac and returns to the place where it was at the time of a person’s birth.
Watson also spoke openly about the ups and downs she’s been through in the last two years: learning to surf “awkwardly,” riding horses, having “a lot of therapy” and “saying goodbye to her grandma and grandpa.”
The actress also shared some achievements, such as creating an environmental investment fund for women, directing her first commercial, playing pickleball with boxing champion Sugar Ray Leonard and being part of the “Harry Potter” reunion.
The “Beauty and the Beast” star has been absent from Instagram since December of last year. In the update that she shared with her 70.5 million followers, Watson admitted that she had “felt very sad and very angry about a lot of things.”
According to Watson, the “Little Women” and “The Bling Ring” actress, she also “learned more about love and being a woman” during her time away from Instagram.
He continued: “It took me three years, but I’ve finally found a daily practice that I can keep up for more than a few days at a time. I’ve burned some stuff. Now I eat green stuff. I’ve become obsessed with making websites in Squarespace.”
Watson ended by showing her gratitude to her loved ones.
“Thank you to the witches in my coven who were so instrumental in helping me get to where and who I am now,” she wrote. “You are my Avengers and you inspire me and kick ass. It takes a lot of effort, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And lastly, thanks to my brother @alex.s.watson for helping me find the most challenging things, Insanely funny over time. Thank you @jessicaediehl – I’m obsessed with you. 😂”
