The 73rd edition of the Emmy Awards regains part of the normality that last year disappeared because of the coronavirus pandemic.
More information
After the 2020 ceremony in which there was no audience, no carpet, and the nominees were at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences of the United States released a statement in July with the news on the organization of the 2021 Emmys. According to the announcement, the presenter in charge of directing the ceremony will be the 57-year-old comedian, Cedric the Entertainer. Although initially it was going to be held in a closed space and before a limited number of attendees, just a month later, in August, and given the increase in infections, it was also decided that the gala would be held outdoors and it was reduced to capacity to no more than four entries per nomination. This decision left out a part of the nominees, since not all will be able to attend this year’s awards.
The series with the most nominations
The most nominated series are The Crown and The Mandalorian, with 24 nominations each. They follow Scarlet Witch and Vision with 23, and The Handmaid’s Tale with 21, Ted Lasso with 20, Lovecraft Country with 18, Lady’s Gambit with 18 and Mare of Easttown with 16.
The Emmy awards ceremony in Spain
The United States Television Academy Awards ceremony takes place in the early hours of September 19-20 at the Microsoft Theather in Los Angeles, California. In our country it is not broadcast openly, so both the red carpet (which begins at 01.00 -Spanish time-) and the ceremony (which begins at 02:00) can only be seen on Movistar +. Cristina Teva and Laia Portaceli will be the presenters and will be accompanied by Alberto Rey and Elena Neira, series specialists.
