Monterrey, NL. Although employment has recovered in Nuevo León, there are 27 subsectors that decreased their formal employment levels from 2019 to 2021, indicates an analysis by the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) Nuevo León, with data from Data Nuevo León and the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).
Of 99 economic subsectors in which the IMSS classifies insured workers from New Lion, 27 present a negative net balance from 2019 to 2021.
The subsector of professional and technical services It was the one with the greatest loss in those two years, with -42,149 formal jobs, caused by the economic crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the reform in terms of labor outsourcing.
It is followed by food and beverage preparation and service subsector (restaurateur), which presented a net loss of -14,093 jobs, in said period.
The construction of buildings and civil engineering works also showed a loss of -7,483 formal jobs, in the same period.
Cecilia Carrillo López, director of Coparmex Nuevo LeonHe expressed that it is regrettable that the efforts of the business sector have not been combined by the federal government, in order to maintain the quality of life of the families.
In 2021, the entrepreneurs of Nuevo León struggled to recover, to create thousands of new formal jobs. Until November of last year, we were the state with the highest number of new jobs in the entire country, ”emphasized Carrillo López.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy state, from January to September New Lion created 95,177 new jobs, followed by Baja California with 82,292 and Jalisco with 67,634 jobs.
“It is frustrating the lack of support from the federal government and the new public policies that counteract part of the work effort and entrepreneurship so deeply rooted in our Neolonese culture,” stressed the directive.
He highlighted that the subcontracting reform harmed employment, and the statistics show it; the lack of support for subsectors such as the restaurant industry caused the closure of many establishments and with this increased unemployment for thousands of workers.
Furthermore, the absence of a climate of trust is causing investment in construction to decline, he said.
“I wish the federal government understood that there are more employers who do comply with their workers than those who do not; Public policies must be aimed at motivating investment and the creation of formal employment and new companies. The changes must counteract corruption in a timely manner, without negatively affecting entire productive sectors, ”he said.
He said that the best welfare that employers can give families is the generation of a formal job. “As companies generate more jobs, families will have greater job opportunities, income and social security,” he added.
